Yellow Lady’s Slipper

Like most girls, I LOVE flowers. I’m always inspired when I pass by the florist, or go for a walk with nature. Lucky for me, I was able to borrow Ontario Wildflowers: 101 Wayside Flowers from my guy. Thanks!!! He loves flowers just as much as I do, if not more than. I am amazed at the selection of beautiful flowers we have in Ontario. I decided to make a study of it for the next little while… maybe for the next 101 days.

So to start off, here is my rendition of the Yellow Lady’s Slipper (cypripedium parviflorum).
I love its shape and the details on the petals.

Plant: Erect perennial 20-80 cm tall.
Fruits: Oblong capsules containing some 15,000 seeds.
Blooms: May to July.
Habitat: Moist roadsides and woodlands.
Distribution: Native across North America.

A Chair For Reading

A Chair For Reading

I have been going over my past work and this is one of those projects that I will never forget. It came from the heart.

Not too long ago, I think it was Year 1 or Year 2, I had a project for my 3D class at OCAD, to design and build a light fixture that meets the following requirements.

Depending on your luck, you could draw only two pieces of paper – floor, table, wall – and – read, eat. With my luck, I picked out ‘read’ and ‘floor’. What?! I have to read ON the floor? Who does that?! But the answer was right in front of me.

The cute munchkins are my inspiration – my nieces!

After endless nights of doodling (it really was only 6 nights and days), tracing, cutting, wire stripping, snipping, sewing and stuffing, this is what I ended up with…

I managed to carry it into class without knocking one down, or getting struck by a car.

It fits her just fine, and with room to grow!

This was definitely one of the most memorable projects during my University studies.

How can you forget a big bunny with ears that light up?
